This is again a cool album by Zita Swoon, after their
I paint pictures on a wedding dress, which I’m not too keen on. Plage Tattoo sounds more like a soundtrack, sort of a more contemporary version of Zita's 1997 album, Sunrise. It has more experiments than I Paint pictures.., and a great deal more exploring in different styles. Several critics couldn't appreciate this sense for experiment, but I most definitely can. Rudy’s share is pretty limited; he plays the electric guitar on Into his arms, and in For blood effects in the mouth, a sample loop was used from a jam by Aarich Jespers, Simon & Buni Lenski, Daan Stuyven and Rudy Trouvé. I've been trying real hard to even notice the sample loop they're talking about, but no success so far. Anyway, a fine but experimental cd. | |
