A very fine single, this. Theme
from turnpike already was a beast of a track, it rightfully deserved
to be the first single of In a bar under the
sea. This version is edited of course, losing part of the chaotic end
it has on the album. Still, if you want this, you probably already have
the album, and you are more interested in the b-sides. First of all- Rudy is nowhere to be seen on this single. I just included this single because….um…Oh well, the cover is a painting by Rudy! (sorry) Worried about satan is a cheerful, fast guitar pop song which has much in common with My wife Jan from the Little Arithmetics single. Overflow is a Wil Oldham inspired, typical Tom Barman acoustic song with a very slow pace. My little Contessa is a terrific 4-track recording by Klaas Janzoons, combining piano, violin, some samples and pure noise. I love this kind of work- hopefully Klaas will ever release something from his ‘Seven deadly violins’ solo-project. To get an idea, two more songs of his are on My sister=my clock, which is still widely available. | |
